“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.” - Clay P. Bedford

Philosophy of Education

I hold to the belief that students will rise to the expectations that are set and I set them high.  I work to meet the national STEM initiative head on and build a classroom community so that all students feel safe, as well as prepare lessons for maximum engagement.

Learner-Centered Instruction

Enabling students to synthesize information, make observatios, use inquiry, and formulate new ideas through learner-centered instruction will help foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and research.

Diversity

Consitently working to close the achievement gaps, while embracing diversity in the classroom, and ultimately promoting inclusion for all students through meeting each students individual needs is a daily goal.

Instructional Strategies

The goal of this educator is to create engagement and help students make connections through various types of instructional strategies in and outside of the classroom.  No two students are alike and the goal in my classroom is to inspire lifelong learning.

Service Learning

Servant leadership is a core concept at Dallas Baptist University and all teachers at the heart of their calling must walk in a true path of service to all.

Closing Statement

We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.
